Our Pastor
Dr. Michael Grant

My name is Michael Grant, and it is my honor to pastor Eastside Baptist Church. Being new to the area of Henderson and Vance County, there are many people that do not know much about me.

I was born July 5, 1977 in Rutherfordton, NC. My father is an evangelist and former pastor and my mother worked in Christian education and dedicated her life to raising my sister and I. Going to church was always the hub of our activity in our home.

The first 34 years of my life I lived in a rural town in North Carolina called Marion. In many ways, it is similar to Henderson, yet in the same vein there are ways it is completely different. I never thought I would ever leave McDowell County, but I am glad the Lord had other plans.

On February 26, 1984, as a 6-year-old boy the Lord saved me by His grace. This was the first time in my life I ever remember the Holy Spirit dealing with my heart in conviction. The reality of my sin was brought before my young eyes, and I placed my faith in Christ and was saved by His grace. I am 40 years old now, and never once have I ever doubted my salvation. Not bragging on me, but the great mercy of God.

On January 14, 1990, as a 12-year-old boy, I surrendered my life to the calling of God to preach His Word. I entered into full-time ministry when I graduated high school on June 2, 1995 and worked in evangelism for the next 10 years. Entering full-time ministry at the age 17 is educating enough, but I am thankful for the men and opportunities that helped me grow in ministry.

In 2003, I graduated from The Institute of Biblical Studies, in Lynchburg, VA. I received an Associate’s Degree in Biblical Studies. This degree helped me get an understanding in basic doctrines and study habits that helped my preparation and delivery in preaching.

In 2005, I graduated from Andersonville Theological Seminary, in Camilla Georgia and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Education. This degree allowed me to both teach and coach basketball in Christian Schools. The Lord used this experience to teach me how to minister on a daily basis in everyday situations.

In 2008, I graduated from Piedmont College of Theology, in China Grove, NC. I received a Masters of Arts in Christian Education. With this degree, I was given the opportunity to work as an Administrator in the Secondary Schools. That is where I was taught leadership and administration that I am still using to this day in my ministry.

In 2012, 2013, and 2014 I graduated from Piedmont College of Theology, China Grove, NC and received my Doctorate Degrees in Ministry, Theology, and Pastoral Counseling. These have enabled me to grow as a pastor and to learn to minister to people.

June 23, 2013 my life forever changed as I began to pastor. I was pastor for three years at a Baptist church in High Point, and after resigning, the Lord opened a door a month later in Henderson at Eastside Baptist Church.

In my ministry as pastor, I love people. I am faithful to the study of the Bible and preparation of the sermons. I love to fellowship with my people, both inside and outside of the church.

I am thankful to be at Eastside, ministering to all ages and all people. I am praying it grows in both maturity and number. Please come visit us.
